Area of Concentration:
The Graduate Program in Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture (PPG-RPAq) has a single area of concentration: Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture.

Research Lines:

  1. Sustainable Aquaculture: Focuses on the development of farming systems that minimize environmental impacts while promoting resource efficiency and the economic and social sustainability of aquaculture.

  2. Sustainable Fisheries: Aims to understand and improve fishing practices to ensure the conservation of fish stocks and the economic viability of the communities involved, integrating ecological, social, and economic aspects.

  3. Aquatic Ecology: Studies the interactions between aquatic organisms and their environment, including aspects related to biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and the impacts of anthropogenic activities.

Project Distribution by Research Line:
Currently, the PPG-RPAq has 30 research projects distributed among the three lines:

  • Sustainable Aquaculture: 12 projects

  • Sustainable Fisheries: 10 projects

  • Aquatic Ecology: 8 projects

PPG-RPAq operates within the field of Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture and currently has 28 ongoing projects for the upcoming quadrennium (2025-2028). These projects are distributed across three major areas:

  • Sustainable Fisheries: 9 projects, including one extension project

  • Aquaculture: 14 projects, including two innovation projects

  • Aquatic Ecology: 5 projects, of which two are interinstitutional
